The Nigerian Army, 81 Division have intercepted three vehicles loaded with over 300, 000 reside cartridges on the Igbogila-Ilara space of Ogun.
This was revealed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division Maj.-Gen. Enobong Udoh, at an information convention in Lagos.
According to Maj.Gen Udoh, “The 81 Division Nigerian Army together with some safety companies on May 30 at about 2:58 a.m. intercepted three 5-ton vehicles loaded with hundreds of reside cartridges.
“The live cartridges in boxes and cartons were carefully concealed in a wooden platform with metallic plates.”
In addition, he stated the vehicles have been intercepted at Balogun Village on Igbogila-Ilara highway, Ogun, State, with registration numbers Anambra AAH 409 ZV, Lagos BDG 782 XU and Lagos GGF 88 XU.
The GOC stated that the drivers and their accomplices, on sighting the troops, deserted their vehicles and fled.
