Ashley Cole believes Chelsea’s win at Crystal Palace was a “championship performance”.
Move aside Mourinho: Conte sets new record for Premier League wins
The Blues won 1-0 at Selhurst Park thanks Diego Costa’s 50th Chelsea goal on the stroke of half-time and Cole believes their knack of grinding out results means they could be lifting their fifth Premier League title come the end of the season.
“It was a championship performance,” the former Chelsea left-back said on Sky Sports after the game.
“They didn’t score the goals that we thought but it was a great defensive performance. Everybody worked hard. At the end, they deserved the result.”
Chelsea’s club-record equalling 11th win in a row moves them nine points clear of second-placed Liverpool until Monday night at the earliest, but manager Antonio Conte believes there is still room for improvement in their performances.
"I am pleased for them because they deserve this,” he told the media after Saturday’s match.
"I see every single moment, every day. It is commitment, the way we prepare for the game and the way they fight.
"I am pleased for the fans who are fantastic home and away and who push us.
"We can improve though. You can always improve in different aspects.
