Atletico Madrid failed to break through a stubborn PSV backline, but finally booked their place in the Champions League quarter-final via a penalty shootout.
Having taken a 0-0 draw from the first leg in Eindhoven, Simeone's men were on the front foot throughout the return match but could not hit the net in 120 minutes of football at the Vicente Calderon.
The game went down to penalties, and after 14 successful kicks Luciano Narsingh crashed against the bar to allow Juanfran to net the decisive strike.
