Nigerian School Children
The Bayelsa State House of Assembly, yesterday, passed the Child Rights Bill into law.
The bill, tagged “Bayelsa Child Rights Protection Law 2016, aims to protect rights of every child in the state.
The motion for the adoption of the legislation for third reading was moved by the House Leader and representative of Sagbama 1, Peter Akpe with Perkinson Emmanuel (Yenagoa 1) seconding.
The Speaker, Kombowei Benson, commended members for taking time to go through the provisions of the bill.
Benson stated though the legislation was passed by the third Assembly, he, however, noted that that the decline of executive assent had made the bill suffer a bad fate.
He enthused that the fresh passage would see the light of day believing that Governor Seriake Dickson would give his approval expeditiously.
