Fayose receiving bodies of the six Ekiti doctors
It was mourning galore yesterday when three remains of the departed medical doctors as well as their driver who lost their lives while heading for a Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) summit weekend in Sokoto arrived Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The four caskets placed on the rostrum of the association’s secretariat on Ado-Iyin Road, provoked emotions among sympathisers, whose majority could not withstand the shock to pay their last respects to their beloved ones.
The event, which was a commendation service In respect of Drs. Atolani Adeniyi; J.B. Ogunseye; Olayiwola Olajide and Mr. Olowookere Ajibola, was attended by Governor Ayodele Fayose, ably represented by his deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola; Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole; Head of Service, Dr. Gbenga Faseluka; Chief of Staff, Dipo Anisulowo as well as other senior government officials, heads of health institutions and top NMA officials.
Meanwhile, the governor has approved automatic employments for two of the widows.
He urged the affected families to take heart, assuring them of government support.
“When God says it is time, it is time. When your own day comes, what will people say about you and when my own time comes, what will the people say about me?
“We all have our own today and tomorrow but the greatest tomorrow is the one that will meet us at the feet of Christ. Let us learn from our departed brothers, they died in active service, they were hardworking and diligent,” he philosophised.
Delivering the sermon titled: “Teach Us to Number Our Days,” Pastor Olurotimi Sanya, described human life as ephemeral, urging the audience to always prepare for the day of death which, according to him, doesn’t give a prior notice.
