Hon. Titus Ubwa, representing Vandeikya Kyan constituency, has emerged as the new Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly following the impeachment of Hon. Terkibir Ikyange on Tuesday.

Famzn News learned that 22 out of 30 members of the House impeached the Speaker Ikyange, his deputy, Mrs. James Okefe and the Majority Leader, Benjamin Adanyi, for alleged abuse of office.

Johnson Egli Ahubi (Otukpo/Akpa) was elected Deputy Speaker, while Avine Agbum (Makurdi South) was elected Majority Leader.

The motion for the Speaker’s impeachment and that of other principal officers was moved by Richard Ujege (Konshisha state constituency) and seconded by Anthony Ogbu (Ado state constituency)

The House had, on 10th of July, adjourned sitting till 15th of August, 2018, only for the 22 members to have an emergency sitting on Tuesday.
