President Muhammadu Buhari has said the All Progressives Congress did all within its power to stop the defection of members of the National Assembly to the Peoples Democratic Party.
About 15 Senators of the ruling APC and 37 from the same party at the House of Representatives, defected to the PDP on Tuesday.
Reacting to the development, Buhari in a statement noted that he has no issues with the lawmaker’s defection, wishing them well in the future.
Buhari also pledged commitment to work with all members of the National Assembly to move the country to the next level.
The Statement added that as “the saying goes, all politics is local. We understand that some of the distinguished and honorable lawmakers have issues with their home states, especially on zoning which bars some of them from seeking another term in their constituencies.”
Also, the President lauded the leadership of the party for working for its unity.
