The Three Lions will be without the 26-year-old for Saturday's trip to Berlin, but will not call up a replacement for the defender
Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand has withdrawn from the England squad to face Germany on Saturday due to injury.
The left-back sustained a knock during Sunday's 3-2 Premier League win over Liverpool and, following assessment from England's medical staff, will not join his colleagues in Berlin.
A statement from the Football Association read: "Ryan Bertrand has returned to his club this afternoon for further treatment.
"He has since been assessed by the England medical team but will not be fit in time to face Germany. There will be no call-ups at this time."
In the 26-year-old's absence, Tottenham full-back Danny Rose is in line to make his international debut.
After taking on the world champions this weekend, England host Netherlands at Wembley next Tuesday.
