Brazil captain Miranda is a doubt for his side’s Copa America opener against Ecuador on Saturday but came through a fitness test and will remain with the squad in USA, CBF confirmed on Thursday.
The Inter Milan man caused concern by complaining of muscle pain in a week that saw coach Dunga’s tournament preparations rocked by yet more late withdrawals.
Luiz Gustavo dropped out of the squad due to a “personal issue” on Thursday, becoming he sixth player Dunga has lost since announcing his 23-man squad last month.
“After complaining of muscle pain, defender Miranda underwent tests on Thursday,” CBF said in a statement.
“The player will not be leave the squad and continue his treatment with team physios, Odir de Souza and Carlos Alberto Presinoti.”
Miranda is expected to be replaced in the back four by Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos for Brazil’s opener against Ecuador on Sunday but the Selecao remain hopeful he will return for their clash with Haiti on Wednesday.
