The Oshiomhole/El-Rufai Committee has braced its effort in a bid to hire two international forensic experts following the assignment committed to it by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The forensic auditors are to determine how much the Federal Government earned within the space of January 2010 to the end of the last administration and how the money was spent.
The committee announced the decision at its inaugural meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
Some revenue generating agencies, including Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have already been invited to brief the committee.
The focus will be on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative, NEITI, among others.
Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala had in February 2014 after appearing before the Senate Committee on Finance which investigated an alleged unremitted fund, suggested that the Federal government should employ the service of foreign auditors.
