President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said the oil-rich Niger Delta region, which, previously, had been volatile, has been experiencing peace under his leadership.
Buhari said this in a nationwide broadcast in commemoration of the nation’s Democracy Day on Tuesday.
In a speech lasting approximately 25 minutes, the President stated that his administration achieved the feat through social inclusiveness and cooperation of the elders and the good people of the region.
He stated that the Federal Government was committed to implementing the comprehensive peace, security and development plan for the region.
The environmental clean-up of the region, which commenced with the launch in Bodo, Ogoni in June, 2016, according to him, is progressing satisfactorily.
