In a assertion issued on Sunday, Falana mentioned: “The state safety service has acknowledged that senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is being detained on account of his hyperlinks with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“It is widespread data the senator had stood surety for Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the chief of IPOB; since Mr. Kanu failed to indicate up in courtroom the senator has been requested by the federal excessive courtroom to supply the defendant within the treason cost the federal authorities should have allowed the legislation to take its course.
“However, if there's proof that the senator has dedicated some other legal offence in anyway he needs to be organized in courtroom with none additional delay and if the state safety service has not concluded the investigation of the allegations in opposition to the senator he needs to be admitted to administrative bail pending his attainable arraignment in courtroom.
“In view of the foregoing, I am compelled, once again, to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to direct all security agencies in the country to respect the fundamental rights of every citizen. Since the federal government has undertaken to stop impunity and respect the human rights of every person living in Nigeria under the rule of law, the human rights community should be prepared to halt fascism which has continued to rear its ugly head in the land.”
