The Yoruba Council of Youths (YCY), an umbrella body and coalition of various youths and students organizations in South-West Geo-political zone of Nigeria and in Diaspora has called on the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to review and probe before its tribunal all past and present politically elected or appointed, or any other public servant assets declaration from 1999 till date.
He stated it is opposed to the singling out of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki for probe.
It vowed that it will resist all attempts to drag the hallowed seat of the Senate President and Dr. Bukola Saraki into the mud and mucky waters of nepotism, witch-hunting and blackmail.
Speaking with reporters in Lagos Sunday, the President of the YCY, Aremo Oladotun Hassan, stated the blackmailing and witch-hunting is predicated on politically motivated power tussle and sheigans of the internal APC party permutations of sharing formula of offices amongst its divided tents that formed the party “saying this is the nucleus genesis that caused the current show of naked fire-powers and deadly force of shame”.
He stated YCY also condemned the ill-informed ideas and campaign of calumny in some quarters especially by some disgruntled northern youths elements and sponsored agent provocateurs calling for the immediate resignation of Saraki saying section 36(5) of the 1999 constitution state that an accuse is presumed innocent, until the contrary is proven.
Hassan also called on Nigerians to reject and not allow what it described as undue chastisements and forceful removal of the Senate President, saying “if this precedence is allowed to sail through, it will emboldened the orchestras to cause more avokes, and no one will be insulated from this recycled gestapo-styled leadership mannerism, leaving all of us in helpless torture chamber and humiliation, in the prey hands of this political mafias and cabals”.
