Liverpool have long been found suspect in between the sticks, with their choice of keeper often costing them points when it matters most.
However, having moved ever closer to securing the signature of Brazil's highly rated shot stopper Alisson after submitting a £62m offer, fortunes could be changing for those at Anfield.
Here is why signing Alisson will help Liverpool end their 29 year wait for the Premier League title:
5. Physicality Capable of Coping With the Premier League
Liverpool fans can rejoice as Alisson is seemingly a goalkeeper who can pose as a physical presence in the box.
The 25-year-old (1.91m) stands slightly taller than Lloris Karius (1.89m), and while he would have to adjust to the demands of English football, his showings for Roma and Brazil have indicated that he is not afraid of engaging his opponent.
4. Capable of Breeding Confidence
For too long Liverpool have come unstuck due to the questionable abilities of their goalkeeper, with uncertainty and uneasiness spreading through the team like wildfire.
The addition of Virgil van Dijk at the centre of defence has solidified one issue area, but the arrival of Alisson would serve to make the Reds' defence more fearsome than their rivals would be willing to give them credit for.
His confidence on the ball and presence in the box will ensure his teammates, nor the Liverpool supporters, question his ability or make costly adjustments to cater for a struggling goalkeeper - an unwanted trait which has been on show with both Karius and Mignolet in the side.
3. Superb Shot Stopper
While Roma's style of play ensures Alisson is called into action more readily than Karius or Mignolet would for Liverpool, the 25-year-old conceded just 28 league goals last season, with only Juventus conceding less.
He kept 17 clean sheets in Serie A last season, the join second highest in the league - behind only Pepe Reina on 18 - with mistakes coming few and far between.
Meanwhile his save percentage of 80.1% placed him amongst the top bracket of keepers across Europe's top five leagues, leading to him being crowned as best goalkeeper in Europe last season by WhoScored.
2. Impeccable Distribution
The Brazilian's confidence on the ball and pin point accuracy make him one of the best keepers in world football at building play from the back. Jurgen Klopp encourages his keeper to swiftly move on possession, and Alisson has the ability to add an extra dimension to Liverpool's swift attacking movement with his impressive mid to long range deliveries.
The Roma stopper had a distribution accuracy of 83% per 90 last term, a clear upgrade on both Karius (72%) and Simon Mignolet (75%) respectively - and he even registered an assist in Serie A last term.
Just imagine the damage he can cause with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all to pick out in the attacking half.
1. An Upgrade in Every Sense of the Word
Liverpool have tried and tested Mignolet and Karius and both have failed to take on the shot-stopping role to great effect.
Alisson, while only having one season at the top of European football, has cemented himself with a top bracket of goalkeepers, and at just 25 years old, he will continue to improve and grow into the role.
For all the aforementioned qualities, he also acts as a sweeper meaning he is the perfect fit for Klopp's system, and having experienced a similar style with Roma, he should be able to hit the ground running and enable the Reds to mount a serious title challenge.
