Drifting is a form of motorsport or a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers the vehicle, causing loss of traction while maintaining control through a set corner.

The craze started thanks to Tsuchiya Keiichi – known as the drift king – after his continuous victories on the race track started to bore people, so he began sliding the cars about. Of course, like all racing disciplines, drifting was also jump started by illegal events, held on public streets.

Now, though, the sport has matured, and many are coming with a professional approach towards it, even if it sometimes remains a fun, no-string-attach competition.

That said, Ebisu is one of the most prolific drifting zones, assembling 7 individual tracks and 2 skid pads in one huge “automotive theme park”. But this comes as no surprise, since it was designed and built by drift driver Nobushige Kumakubo.

The video gathers a few of the most known figures in the sport, commenting and explaining the complex, including the Minami course (used in D1 drifting events) and the beautiful Touge pass.
