Members of the Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, have accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC of not taking up the petition written against Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Rector, Dr. Margaret Ladipo, who was alleged of mismanagement of public funds, abuse of office and sundry acts of corruption.
The group led by its President, Igho Akeregha, on arrival at the EFCC office, were bent on stating their case that the stiff resistance which welcomed them at the commission's main gate by security operatives was not enough to deter them from their mission.
Akeregha said that their visit was due to the EFCC not taking up a petition written against the institutions rector for alleged fraud and abuse of office as far back as 2014. Failure on the part of the EFCC was what instigated the need for their presence in their premises.
However, when arguments between both parties seemed to heighten, an official of the Media and Publicity department of the EFCC Lagos, who pleaded anonymity tried to calm the air by explaining to members of the CLO that the EFCC had procedures which they abided by, acknowledging that the EFCC had gone through the petition leveled against the rector and had proceeded in inviting the Rector for interrogations.
