Manchester United have confirmed that their final Premier League match against Bournemouth has been abandoned after a suspicious package was found at Old Trafford.
Around 20 minutes prior to kick-off, United began evacuating both the Stretford End and the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand in response to a security threat.
United subsequently confirmed that the 3pm kick-off was delayed after a ‘suspect package’ was found in the north-west section of the stadium.
But shortly after 3pm, United followed up with an announcement that the match would not go ahead at all on Sunday.
Greater Manchester Police are at Old Trafford with sniffer dogs in an attempt to deal with the threat.
Due to the discovery of a suspect package in the NW Quadrant of the ground, the match has been abandoned today on police advice. #mufc
