The platform is a private cloud IT-as-a-Service platform for storing, protecting and governing data across endpoints, remote offices and servers.

Secure file specialist CTERA announced enhanced enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) and endpoint backup features to its Enterprise File Services Platform to ensure military-grade security. The platform is a private cloud IT-as-a-Service platform for storing, syncing, sharing, protecting and governing data across endpoints, remote offices and servers.Deployed behind the firewall leveraging any private or virtual private cloud (VPC) infrastructure, the platform delivers the high levels of information security, data privacy and data sovereignty. The enhancements to CTERA’s endpoint services are the byproduct of CTERA’s collaboration with leading financial institutions, multinational companies, government agencies and service providers. "CTERA is working with the world’s largest government and enterprise organizations across nearly all verticals," Jeff Denworth, CTERA’s senior vice president of marketing, told eWEEK. "The military-grade security enhancements and UX improvements announced this week are suitable for any organization that wants to leverage cloud-based services but cannot deploy public SaaS tools that introduce numerous data security and privacy risks." Additional features include native mutual authentication with support for smart cards/client certificates, enhanced data loss prevention (DLP) capability with new external file sharing and collaboration functionality, and self-service migration between PCs and Macs. This migration provides workstation replacement functionality that enables users to seamlessly move between different devices and operating systems without IT administrator intervention. A user can replace a Windows laptop, for example, with a Mac OS X laptop."The goal is simple: to deliver a truly enjoyable mobile user experience in an enterprise-grade solution. In today’s market people are continually influenced by consumer apps and simple IT products," Denworth said. "This is a challenge for companies dealing with legacy and clunky IT products – because without adoption, it really doesn’t matter how secure your storage or backup system is that employees won’t use it. We’ve always said that without a productive user experience, you can’t drive users to adopt enterprise IT services and therefore are subject to data governance risk."CTERA’s endpoint file services are WAN-optimized using source-based global deduplication and an incremental-forever backup and sync functionality, and feature end-to-end AES 256-bit data encryption both at-rest and in-flight where enterprises are the sole owner of their data and encryption keys.Data is stored in the public or private data center of choice to alleviate all privacy, security, and data sovereignty concerns.Denworth explained CTERA Mobile delivers a consumer-grade IT experience users will want to use every day, and that resulting adoption is critical to establish a CTERA’s platform as a strategic and comprehensive control point for enterprise files and collaboration.
