Edo State Police Command has arrested a driver working with a multi-national oil company for attempting to divert and sell 60,000 liters of fuel he was conveying from Lagos to Abuja. The truck marked GDD 246 YE and its contents were recovered in Kogi State after the driver identified as Alloy Imoh raised alarm that the truck was stolen at Aviele in Edo State. The oil company used tracking devices to locate the truck and it was recovered in Kogi State where a buyer was already waiting to receive the fuel, the police stated. Edo State police command spokesman, Onwochei Stephen, said the driver tied himself to a tree in the bush and asked a photographer to take pictures to show that he was actually robbed. He said the motor-boy attached to the truck fled into the bush upon sighting the police, while another accomplice that invited the driver that took the truck to Kogi State was on the run. As stated by the driver who was paraded on Monday, he was taken from where he parked the truck to the bush where he was tied. He denied being involved in any plot to sell the truck and its contents. The suspected buyer of the fuel, Ibrahim Mohammend, said he wanted to buy the fuel at a price of N90 per litre.
