Eight persons have reportedly died in an auto accident that happened yesterday along Ondo-Ile-Ife Road in Osun State, which involved a truck and a commercial bus.
Commuters who arrived the scene immediately after the incident said the accident occurred at around 4.30pm about 10km to Ile-Ife.
The cause of the accident was, however, not clear as of the time of filing this report but the accounts suggested that a heavy rainfall in the area at the time of the accident might have contributed to it.
One of the commuters, Mr. Kunle Bamigbose, said, “The green commercial bus involved in the accident was badly damaged. Out of the nine passengers in the bus, only one of them survived and has been taken to a hospital.
“The rain was very heavy so we cannot rule out the fact that it might have contributed to the accident. The bus was travelling from Ile-Ife to Ondo while the truck was going the other way. Some corpses are still lying by the road as I speak.”
