Ibrahim El-Zakzaky
The Kaduna State High Court on Thursday fixed October 4 to rule on the bail application of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife Zeenat.
Although El-Zakzaky and his wife were absent from the proceedings, there was a heavy presence of security operatives in and around the court premises.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Gideon Kurada, adjourned the matter after counselling to the defendants, Maxwell Kyon moved the application for the bail of the first and second defendants.
Kyon told reporters the prosecution had served the 3rd and 4th defendants, Yakubu Yahaya and Sanusi Abdulqadir, respectively, standing trial with the Shiites leader.
Kyon said the Defence Counsel had filed their bail application to the court and the prosecution had also filed their response.
He stated that October 4 had been fixed for the ruling of the bail application.
El-Zakzaky and his wife are standing trial over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace, among other charges.
