The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), yesterday, handed seven graduates caught with fake exemption and exclusion certificate of the Scheme to security personnel.
Addressing the press while parading four of the suspects at NYSC headquarters, the Director Certification of NYSC, Alhaji Hudu Aliyu Taura, stated that the fake certificates where detected when the employers of the suspects brought their certificates to be verified by the NYSC.
“Some employers sent certificates to us for verification. In the course of that, we found 17 certificates to be fake ones. But when we invited the affected persons to come with the originals of such documents, they brought only seven,” he stated.
Taura who explained that three of the suspects absconded during the cause of verification added that the suspects had confessed they got the certificates from other sources, also revealing that they had paid certain amount of money to get them.
Taura, who denied the involvement of any staff of the scheme in the act, revealed that the management have compiled the report with their written statement which would be handed over to the security personnel for further necessary actions.
