The household of late human rights activist Gani Fawehinmi on Thursday thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his choice to provide its patriarch a nationwide award.
The first son of the late lawyer, Mohammed Fawehinmi expressed the household’s gratitude in an interview with .
Mohammed mentioned the household accepted the honour bestowed on his late father and thanked Buhari for the popularity.
He mentioned: “We thank the Federal Government for the honour ,we recognize it and we settle for it.
“We also thank the government for recognising the June 12 struggle. We thank the president for the honour.”
Fawehinmi also stated that his late father deserved the honour having fought exhausting for justice and democracy whereas he was alive.
He dismissed the idea in some quarters that his father would have rejected the award if he was alive.
