The Federal Government has extended the completion date for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway project by one year.

Famzn News gathered that the move was to make room for more work as the Federal Government has approved.

The project was supposed to be completed by the end of 2017 but was later moved to late 2018/early 2019 due to additional workload.

However, Punch reports that the project will now be finished by the end of 2019.

As stated by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos Adedamola Kuti, “The end of 2018 is no longer feasible; what we have is that the government has awarded additional work that is not part of the original contract.

“When the contract was first awarded, we did not take into consideration the religious organizations that are springing up rapidly in the area.

“So now, we have to make provision for toll gates, flyovers, and plazas, among other additions.

“So, the completion date has been extended. We need [an] additional one year to complete the work that has been added.”

About one month ago, the Federal Government approved the N64.108bn for more work on a section of the road project handled by Julius Berger.
