Fresh off its racing debut at the Daytona 24 Hours, a couple of automotive designers have imagined how the new Ford GT race car would look with the famous blue and orange paint.

The Gulf Oil racing liveries used to promote the now-defunct oil company are among the most recognizable in motorsport history and were used by a number of race-winning vehicles, including the original Ford GT40, Porsche 917 and McLaren F1 GTR.

Since the oil company went bust, Gulf Racing was launched as a dedicated racing team and continues to use the same colors in championships around the world.

For the third-generation GT pictured, G24 Studio's creation is bathed in metallic orange across the vehicle's lower half, on the rear wing, side mirrors and for a prominent central racing stripe. The rest of the vehicle is a light shade of blue and stickered with the number 24.

Beats the rather plain blue and red paint scheme of the new GT GTE racer, doesn't it?
