It's been nine years since former governor of Kwara State, the late Admiral Mohammed Lawal, passed on. His friends and associates gathered in Ilorin yesterday for the deceased's 9th year remembrance prayer.
The prayer was held at the former governor’s residence along Admiralty Drive, GRA,Ilorin.
The Imam Imole of Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulHamid who led the prayer urged the nation’s leaders to rule with the fear of God.
AbdulHamid said that whoever allowed himself to be guided by the fear of God would surely leave behind legacies worthy of emulation by incoming generation.
He prayed Almighty Allah to grant Lawal eternal rest.
In a brief sermon, Sheik Suleiman Dan Borno noted Lawal’s passion for the welfare of the down trodden while alive and urged present crop of leadership across the country to emulate his exemplary conduct.
He noted that Lawal remained bosom friend of the downtrodden while in office and till his death.
As stated by him, Lawal would be long remembered for elevating Ilorin Emirate, upgrading and making social infrastructures functional in the state throughout his time as governor of the state.
