When it was launched last November, Garmin's Vivosmart HR activity tracker band was missing GPS capabilities that would have given users more details about their physical activities, from running to bike riding, swimming and elliptical training. Garmin fixed that omission in its new Vivosmart HR+ activity tracker, which now adds valuable GPS tracking as well as a wide range of additional user data while running. The new $220 band, which is available through Amazon and other retailers, costs $70 more than the original Vivosmart HR, now also includes Garmin Move IQ automatic activity detection capabilities. Garmin Move IQ continuously monitors for periods of sustained activity and automatically recognizes when the band is being used during activities, including walking, running, biking, swimming and elliptical training. That allows users to keep track of their time and data during activities without having to manually track their activities.
