Good news for US retro sports-car lovers as it appears that Morgan will start importing its four-wheeled models after 10 years of absence.
Morgan fans in the country were only offered the single choice of the 3 Wheeler so far but that’s about to change as Isis Imports, Morgan’s official US arm announced that they are now accepting deposits.
“While details remain to be finalized, the latest word from the Morgan Motor Company is that they anticipate opening the order books for NEW Morgan cars for the USA, possibly as soon as this summer,” said Isis Imports in their statement. “It is possible that production may begin on USA spec cars before the end of the year.”
The most likely model to be imported will be the V6 Roadster but this remains unconfirmed yet. Powered by a naturally aspirated Ford-sourced 3.7-litre V6 that produces 280hp and 280lb ft of torque, the handmade two-seater roadster is able of a 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 140mph.
According to the importer, the relaunch of Morgan’s models was enabled by a new legislation that allows limited numbers of vehicles seen as ‘reproductions’ to be sold in the US.
