President (Dr.) John Mahama Dramani of Ghana will be visiting Offa in Kwara State of Nigeria today, as part of what a source described as “return to his family”.
A source close to the president of Ghana stated that the president had made his visit to Offa today as part of his itinerary to Nigeria where he was the Guest Lecturer at the University of Ilorin Convocation Lecture in Ilorin yesterday.
Based on what was gathered, the president's step mother who is late, was from Offa.
The president of Ghana is to be honoured with a traditional title in the town today as part of measures to make his visit memorable.
He was stated to have decided to use the occasion of his visit to pay home to the burial ground of his step mother.
The President himself was stated to have lived in Offa for sometime while growing up while he has close to his administration in Ghana, a daughter of the step mother, simply named Sherifat Dundu.
The town of Offa is stated to be agog as the Ghanaian president visits the town today. Other prominent sons and daughters of the town were also stated to have been invited by the monarch, Oba Moruf Oloyede Gbadamosi.
