The governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has urged members of the National Assembly from the state to support the nomination of the immediate past governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, when he appears for screening at the senate.

The governor gave the advice while meeting with student leaders from the state under the aegis of Federation of Ekiti Student Union in his office.

This is as a member of the seventh House of Representatives, Bamidele Faparusi, has urged Fayemi, to unite different interest groups in All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State.

Faparusi, who represented Emure/Ekiti East/Gbonyin Federal constituency said there was the need for the party to form a formidable force ahead of the 2018 governorship poll.

Faparusi said by his nomination, Fayemi had become the rallying point for the party and that he must provide purposeful leadership that would unite the party, rather than ripping it further.

“As much as I congratulate the former governor and our leader for this feat, I want to advise that he must rise above primordial sentiment and ensure a speedy process of reconciliation as soon as he is confirmed by the senate and assigned a portfolio,” Faparusi added.

As stated by a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor said the Ekiti project belonged to all and that everything must be done to support it.

“Ekiti is my priority. I call on all the House of Representatives members and senators that went to Abuja from here, some people petitioned the National Assembly stating‎ how Fayemi sunk Ekiti into heavy debts, I have told the members not to do that.

“It is God that judges people, not us. You must support him there. They should not go to the Senate and oppose Kayode Fayemi, no! They must never do that! An Ekiti man is an Ekiti man. I appeal to everybody, you must support him.”

The governor charged the students to shun acts that could mar their future, saying he would never ask them to engage in party politics or thuggery.

He urged them to be mindful of the current financial situation of the state while making their demands, promising to always treat young people with utmost respect and love.

He promised to hand over a brand new bus donated to him during his campaigns to the Ekiti State University Students Union Government and another bus for the transport of the students to and fro their campus.
