MPs have backed controversial plans to construct a third runway at London's Heathrow airport.
The authorities received a key vote in the Commons by 415 votes to 119a majority of 296.
Tory MPs had been below orders to assist the federal governmenthowever Boris Johnson, a main opponent of expansion, missed the vote as a result of he was in Afghanistan.
Labour's official place was to oppose expansion, however its MPs got a free vote. The SNP abstained.
