Illegal Firearm Arrest: Doctor Held in Edo State

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a medical doctor, Dr. Kingsley Dele, 35, over the alleged illegal possession of a firearm in the Obarentin community area of the state on February 29.

Dr. Kingsley Dele, a 35-year-old medical professional from the Obarentin community, was apprehended by police following intelligence reports. A Beretta pistol was recovered from the suspect upon his arrest, marking a significant development in the ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illicit weapons within the state.

Police Clampdown on Illicit Weapons

Eno Ikoedem, the command's spokesperson, confirmed that the arrest on February 29 was a direct result of credible intelligence. This action forms an integral part of the police's sustained and strategic offensive against the circulation of illegal firearms, which frequently contribute to violent crimes across communities throughout Edo State.

The police spokesperson further elaborated on the command’s firm stance regarding such offences. Investigation and Prosecution
