Khamenei Funeral Prayer: Kano Sufi Followers Hold Absentia Service

Dozens of Qadiriyya Sufi order followers in Kano observed Salatul Ghaib (funeral prayer in absentia) on Monday for the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in a strike by US and Israeli forces on Saturday.

The solemn funeral prayer was held at the Darul Qadiriyya in Kabara quarters, Kano. This location is significant as it serves as the former residence of the late Sheikh Nasiru Kabara, who was the revered leader of the Qadiriyya sect across Africa until his passing in 1993.

Leading the Absentia Prayer

The funeral prayer was led by Sheikh Muazzamu Nasiru Kabara, the elder son of the late spiritual leader of the Qadiriyya sect. Dozens of faithful adherents attended the service, which commenced immediately after the Asr prayer on the Darul Qadiriyya premises. Attendees offered prayers for the repose of the deceased leader, asking Allah to grant his soul eternal blessings.

Among the notable figures who participated in the funeral rites was Sheikh Musal Qasiyuni Nasiru Kabara. He had previously announced the intention to hold the prayer in a video shared on his verified Facebook page, ensuring wider participation from the community.

Salatul Ghaib is an Islamic funeral prayer performed for a deceased Muslim who is not physically present. This prayer is typically conducted when an individual dies in a place where there are no other Muslims available to perform the traditional funeral service.
