Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.)
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), on his 76 birthday, describing him as a nice patriot and a man of peace.
In a message of goodwill, Jonathan famous that the retired General is endowed with nice knowledge, the proof of which he stated was made manifest in 1998-1999 when he midwifed the shortest, however mostsuccessful transition of energy from the navy to democratically elected civilians.
An announcement issued by Jonathan’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, in Abuja on Wednesday, quoted the previous President as saying that Nigeria owed Abubakar a debt of gratitude, including that it was becoming that his birthday fell near the Eid-el-Fitr.
He stated, “May you be blessed because just as the Muslim Ummah celebrates the end of Ramadan, Nigeria celebrates you for ending military rule.”
The message stated additional, “On this very particular anniversary, I be part of you, your loved ones, well-wishers and thousands and thousands of different Nigerians to provide because of Almighty God for a lifetime of nice achievements and provoking service to humanity.
“Your exemplary patriotism and deep dedication to the event and unity of our nation is clear in your enduring legacies, having served Nigeria as a courageous soldier and Head of State; who heeded the decision to nationwide obligation at a time of misery and helped navigate our pricey nation to the democracy which it now enjoys.
“I wish you good health and more productive years so that our great country will not stop to benefit from your wisdom and wealth of experience.”
