The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state is unhappy with the lifting of the suspension of the senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani.
The National Working Committee of the party lifted the sanction, which was imposed by the APC chapter in Kaduna.
Kaduna APC insisted that Sani’s indefinite suspension was done in line with its constitution.
It noted in a statement on Sunday that since 2015, he had engaged in unremitting hostility to the APC, joining the gang-up against the party in the Senate, and making utterances in which he ridiculed President Muhammadu Buhari and the party at the national level.
The statement read in part: “Article 21A (i-xi) of the APC Constitution lists offences for which a member is liable to disciplinary action.
“Shehu Sani has violated several of these, before and since his suspension. We are not a party of anything goes! Shehu Sani is on indefinite suspension from the APC.
“The process for his suspension was initiated in December 2015 by the Party Executive in Ward 6, Kaduna South Local Government, which suspended him for 11 months.
“Shehu Sani’s indiscipline, his disrespect for the APC, and the whole notion of party spirit persisted during the first suspension, therefore, it was extended to an indefinite suspension, with the endorsement of the State Executive Committee of the party.”
