Senator dismisses threat by party
Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday threatened to expel the senator representing Kaduna Central zone, Shehu Sani from the party if he fails to stop his constant attack of President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies.

The warning came on the heels of Senator Sani’s statement that the increase in the pump price of petrol by the Federal Government will impose further hardship on Nigerians.

It would be recalled that the APC in the state had placed Sani on 11 months suspension over alleged indiscipline, disloyalty to the party as well anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser on Politics and Strategy to Senator Sani, Suleiman Ahmed dismissed the expulsion threat by APC against him, saying; “he will not stop to fight against any policies of government meant to impose hardship on Nigerians.”

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the state APC Acting Publicity Secretary, Mallam Salisu Tanko Wusono, expressed the party’s support for the Federal Government’s decision to eliminate the fuel subsidy racket, which he stated had milked the country dry and brought untold hardship on Nigerians.

Wusono stated he is however surprised that Sani, who was among the senators who passed the 2016 budget that has no provision for subsidy, turned round to attack President Muhammadu Buhari for removing fuel subsidy.

“The APC in Kaduna decided to teach Shehu Sani a lesson in party discipline in the hope that he will be reformed. He was placed on suspension, but rather than learn lessons, show remorse and work for the party, he has chosen to continue to show disloyalty to the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari. Given his disregard for the party, the APC in Kaduna has no option but to take further disciplinary measures that may lead to his expulsion.”

“Having ridden on the back of our party and the popularity of President Muhammadu Buhari to get to the Senate, Shehu Sani has since withdrawn his loyalty to the APC.”

Ahmed, who spoke on behalf of Sani said: “The distinguished senator was elected by the people in his constituency to defend them against bad policies and he cannot abandon them and fight another course.

As stated by him, the APC officials in the state cannot expel Senator Sani on the ground of his principles, saying that: “Shehu Sani has been a defender of Buhari’s government and he cannot be expelled because of his position on government’s decision to increase fuel price, which he saw as anti-people.”
