Akinwunmi Ambode
Call for construction, repair of more roads
To mark the one year in office of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, a coalition of youth bodies under the aegis of Ambode Youth Initiative, has staged a solidarity walk to the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja to demonstrate their support and deliver a letter of commendation.
The group staged the walk from the premises of the Ikeja Local Council, singing solidarity songs and handing out pamphlets and stickers to motorists on the way.
The Chairman of the group, Temitope Ogungbo, said the group was delighted to witness the positive policies and transformation of the state within one year under the present administration.
Ogungbo, who noted that Ambode has impacted and transformed lives in the state in the area of security, roads, transportation, education, health and tourism, also scored the state high in infrastructural development and job creation. He, however, appealed to the governor to do more in the provision of more motorable roads and rehabilitation of dilapidated ones.
In his response, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Idowu Ajanaku, who received the youths on behalf of the governor, thanked the group for believing in the governor at a time most people failed to see the governor’s potential before the 2015 election.
While noting that the youth are at the core of Ambode developmental programmes, Ajanaku reiterated the governor’s commitment to job creation and youth-oriented programmes. “We are not only going to develop infrastructure, we are going to develop human beings,” he stated.
