Christian Pilgrimage: Kaduna State Restores State Sponsorship

Governor Uba Sani has reinstated the state-sponsored Christian Pilgrimage Programme in Kaduna State, Nigeria, ending an 11-year suspension and marking the first state-backed pilgrimage in over a decade.

Governor Uba Sani has officially restored the state-sponsored Christian Pilgrimage Programme, following an 11-year suspension. Speaking during the 2025 orientation programme for 50 intending Christian pilgrims, fully sponsored by the state government, the Head of Service, Mrs Jimami C. Bako, commended the Governor for reintroducing this significant initiative. This marks the first state-backed Christian pilgrimage in over a decade, a programme discontinued by previous administrations.

A Decade-Long Suspension Lifted

Mrs Bako highlighted that the current administration recognises the crucial role of spiritual growth and moral values as essential complements to physical infrastructure and economic development. She articulated that the revival of the pilgrimage scheme reflects a leadership that places high value on faith as a fundamental basis for peace and social harmony within the state.

Commitment to Inclusivity and Prayer

Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information, underscored that this initiative aligns seamlessly with the administration’s unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and inclusiveness for all residents, irrespective of their religious affiliation. He urged the intending pilgrims to seize this unique opportunity to offer prayers for peace, unity, and sustained prosperity throughout Kaduna State and the entire country.
