Osun State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been told to ignore the directive ordering it to verify the status of the spokesperson of the party’s Presidential Campaign Committee, Femi Fani-Kayode. Rising from an emergency meeting yesterday, Osun Renaissance, OR, a group based in the state, decried what it called “vindictive stance” against the former Aviation Minister, whom it said “voiced the aggregate opinion of PDP members” regarding the former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu. Speaking with newsmen on the resolutions reached at the meeting, the representatives of the group in the three senatorial districts in the state, Femi Odofin, Osun Central; Bimbo Adunola, Osun West and Femi Oladapo, Osun East, stated that, at a time “serious minded PDP members expect PDP National Working Committee, NWC, to engage Fani-Kayode with higher responsibilities, some people who felt that he was too bold to challenge them are hell bent on pushing him out”. It said: “But as members of PDP in the home state of National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo and the man in question, Fani- Kayode, we fell it is pertinent to state at this point that he has not done anything wrong by asking PDP NWC to quit. “We recognise his contributions during our presidential campaigns and it is a well known fact that before he was brought in, our publicity machinery had been poor. We hereby warn our SWC not to allow anyone further burden us with more trouble by suspending any member. They should not take any hasty and harsh action against Fani-Kayode or any other party member.”
