M.B Abdullahi, the Makama-Daniya of Bassa-Nge Kingdom, highlighted the occasion as a pivotal moment for the newly incorporated BPU, praising the virtues of the late traditional ruler. He underscored the late Brigadier General Abu Ali's tireless dedication to unity, progress, and development throughout his lifetime, urging kinsmen to embrace his ideals in their future development plans. Federal and State Governments Urged to Address Critical Road Infrastructure
A key demand from the stakeholders is for the federal government and state government to urgently address the significant infrastructure deficit in the area. Particular emphasis was placed on the long-neglected Shintaku-Gboloko-Oguma road, which serves as a vital link connecting the community to other parts of Kogi State. This road has been in a deplorable condition for decades, severely impacting the economic and social lives of the residents. Improving this critical infrastructure is paramount for fostering economic growth and enhancing the well-being of the Bassa-Nge people.
Bassa-Nge Progressive Union: Charting a Course for Future Growth
Unveiling the union, M.B Abdullahi reiterated the call for unity and collective action, stressing that the gathering was not merely to celebrate unity but "to lay a solid foundation for progress, accountability and purposeful leadership that will accelerate development in our land." Jacob Edi, the Kakaki of Bassa-Nge kingdom, further elaborated on the union's ambitious 200-year strategic development plan, designed to bring about significant positive change. He stated, "The birth of the Union is to harmonize all previous contending forces, and forge a common front. This, we believe will bring about accelerated development of the kingdom." The interim President, Dr. Yahaya Ndako, pledged his team's unwavering commitment to the kingdom's progress, vowing not to fail their people. The late paramount ruler, Brigadier General Abu Ali (Rtd), who passed away on November 24, 2025, at 79, had consistently advocated for a platform like the BPU to champion the community's aspirations, a vision now brought to fruition.
