Local governmeny workers and teachers in primary and junior secondary schools in Kwara State have suspended their three-month-old strike.
The suspension came after the intervention of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the Emir of Ilorin.
The workers embarked on the strike due to non-payment of salaries and the teachers had recently vowed to continue the strike until the agreement reached with the state government on the modalities for the payment of their four month salary arrears is implemented.
Although the state government is yet to offset the debt, the workers took the decision to end the strike following the promise by the Senate President to ensure that the bailout fund from the federal government is used to pay them.
