
Lagos State authorities has begun a severe clampdown on unregistered resorts, eating places and tourism institutions within the state following their non-compliance with the Supreme Court's judgement.
The Supreme Court had dominated that solely states had the ability to control actions of resorts, eating places, occasion centres and different institutions within the hospitality business.
The authorities decried that over three,000 resorts, eating places and others within the hospitality business have been but to register with the state authorities earlier than doing companies within the state. The annual registration charge for working a resort is N250,000.
About 25 resorts and eating places have been served default notices to adjust to authorities's directive to register their enterprise outfit or danger closure.
On Wednesday, officers of the Ministry of Tourism and Intergovernmental Relations started enforcement of the legislation in Victoria Island, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, serving defaulting resorts and eating places notices.
Some of the services which were served default notices in Victoria Island are Jade Palace, Steers Real Burger, the Yello Chichi, Bonza Restaurant CafΓ© Bunbeanos and Paris Deli Restaurant CafΓ© Bakery.
The authorities lamented that solely 25 p.c of resorts, eating places and others had registered with the federal government and vowed that it will guarantee 100 p.c compliance earlier than the top of December, 2013.
