To help celebrate the centenary of Ferrucio Lamborghini's birth, the Italian marque will compete in the 24 Hours of Daytona for the first time, just like the new Ford GT.

Taking place between January 28 and 31, this year's Daytona 24 Hours will attract four private teams supported by Lamborghini Squadra Corse. In total, those four teams will enter five Lamborghini Huracan GTD models into the race. The Huracan GTD is equivalent to the Huracan GT3 used in Europe.

The first of the four teams compete is Change Racing. For the Daytona 24 Hours, drivers Spencer Pumpelly, Justin Marks, Kaz Grala, Austin Cindric and Corey Lewis will race for the team which is actually fielding a Huracan GTD for the enter USA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year.

Elsewhere, O'Gara Motorsport, winners of the team championship in 2015's Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series, will field the #11 Huracan GTD. Drivers consist of Townsend Bell, Bill Sweedler, Edoardo Piscopo and Richard Antinucci. Paul Miller Motorsport is the third team racing a Huracan GTD at Daytona thanks to Bryan Sellers, Madison Snow, Bryce Miller and Mirko Bortolotti.
