Lions Club: Nigeria District Pledges Boundless Service

Lions International District 404-A2 Nigeria recently inaugurated its Aso 2026 District Convention in Abuja, themed "Service Without Boundaries," bringing together members from across 11 regions to champion humanitarian efforts and break traditional service barriers.

The significant gathering, which commenced recently, is set to continue until Sunday, drawing Lion members from various parts of the district.

District Governor, Lion Pastor Ezekiel Umoh, highlighted the club’s ongoing and impactful humanitarian interventions. He specifically drew attention to recent initiatives aimed at enhancing maternity facilities within communities.

Furthermore, Governor Umoh disclosed a notable donation of N1.5 million by the club to support a child in urgent need of medical treatment, who was referred to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu.

Embracing 'Service Without Boundaries'

Lion Ngozi Adigwe, the Convention Chairperson, elaborated on the profound significance of this annual event. She explained that the chosen theme, "Service Without Boundaries," serves as a direct challenge to members to overcome any perceived limitations in their delivery of service to communities.

β€œThere are supposed to be no boundaries to render service, and no challenges when it comes to rendering service,” she affirmed, encapsulating the club’s guiding philosophy for the convention.

Tangible Social Impact and Future Plans

Lion Charlz Opusunju, the Second Vice District Governor, outlined the measurable social impact anticipated from the convention’s various activities. He proudly reported that members had revisited the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where the Lions had previously funded and equipped a 20-bed paediatric oncology centre, demonstrating a sustained commitment to health infrastructure.

β€œToday, we donated the sum of N1.5 million to a child suffering from cancer and made other gift donations to children in the oncology ward,” he announced, underscoring the immediate and direct support being provided to vulnerable patients.

Beyond their substantial hospital support, the Lions are also extending crucial assistance to displaced residents of the Kuchibena community. These residents were recently affected by a demolition exercise carried out by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) authorities, highlighting the Lions' readiness to respond to various community needs.
