An unemployed man was jailed on Fridy by a Malaysian court for one year over the possession of Islamic State-related publications, a deputy public prosecutor stated.
Nazirul Thalha, 24, pleaded guilty to the charge of possessing terrorism related materials at Kuala Lumpur High Court, deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin stated.
Shaharuddin said the materials were seized on July 2 during a police anti-terrorism raid on a house in the Wangsa Maju district in Kuala Lumpur where the man resides.
Malaysian authorities have been conducting operations against suspected supporters of Islamic State in the country since 2014.
On Wednesday, two Malaysians were each sentenced to two years in jail for attempting to go to Syria to fight alongside Islamic State militants.
Police said nearly 100 Malaysian citizens have gone to Syria and Iraq to fight in the radical Islamist movement.
Dozens more Malaysians have been charged in court since 2014 for attempting to support the militants.
