Everybody remembers his debut: he scored in the final minute against America on February 8, 2014 to give his Pachuca side victory. It was a dream start to a career that is poised to carry Hirving Lozano to Manchester United, one of the game’s greatest sides.

After such a dramatically successful start to life in the professional ranks, it is little wonder that he is considered to be a youngster who has a positive attitude. But above all, he is noted for his footballing talents that make him shine brighter than his rivals in Liga MX.

A move to Old Trafford is looming, but the youngster has still managed to remain level headed. There have been no statements over his future and his focus has remained pinned upon the national team.

One of the greatest virtues of the attacker, who will turn 21 on July 30, is his speed. But that is not his only weapon. He’s become known for his skills on the left wing, although on occasion he has shown himself proficient on the right. At times he has even been used more centrally, with Pachuca coach Ivan Alonso utilising his mobility by rotating him with team-mates Erick Gutierrez and Rodolfo Pizarro.

Although slight in stature, this allows him to accelerate quickly and, just as importantly, hit the brakes to avoid opponents. He is naturally right footed, although he is very capable on both sides and is a resourceful, intelligent player. His trademark skill is to reach the bye-line, stop, beat his marker, and then deliver a cross to the near post.

Jose Mourinho will also be attracted by the player’s proven winning ability. Pachuca are currently champions of Mexico and he was crucial to their success, having been named in the league’s outstanding XI of the season.

Lozano will doubtless add quality to United when his signing in completed, but the move to Old Trafford will also benefit him. He will become a more skilled footballer for the switch to the Premier League, and if he develops as hoped, he will become a potent weapon in the new Mourinho era in Manchester.
