Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over the controversy raging currently concerning the whooping N75billion his administration declared as its legacy for its successor, Governor Willie Obiano government and called for curation so that the issue would not tarnish the image of the state.
Governor Obiano had in a press conference addressed on his behalf by the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG), Professor Solo Chukwudobelu, a week ago in the Conference Hall of the Government House, Awka, accompanied by most members of the state Executive Council (EXCO), denied having inherited N75billion from the administration of former Governor Obi.
In a press statement he issued yesterday from Britain where his is undergoing a study programme at the University of Cambridge, Peter Obi called all parties in the ongoing media war on Anambra State finances to stop all ‘hostilities’ and remember that the dignity of the state and its people must be upheld at all times.
In the statement which was made available to the pressmen yesterday in Awka , the state capital by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem, the former governor who stated that he was in the final week of his program at University of Cambridge and has not been physically available for clarifications, expressed displeasure over “needless controversy that can be put to rest by a simple recourse to available and verifiable public records”.
