Newcastle United face Burnley on deadline night knowing they failed in their efforts to sign a new striker in time for the visit of the Clarets.
Rafa Benitez had made it perfectly clear the club needed to bring in a new frontman in time for this Premier League game but his pleas seem to have been ignored.
Therefore, Newcastle have to get on with the job with the players they have and should they emerge with nothing to show for their efforts at St James’ Park they could soon be sliding into the bottom three.
Lee Ryder’s prediction
The Clarets have had an excellent season overall so far but this could be a good time to play them as Sean Dyche’s men haven’t won for eight matches now.
Despite that run Burnley are still in eighth place which underlines just how well they performed in the first half of the season.
The Clarets struggle when defending against set-pieces so Newcastle will have to brush up on this side of their game and if they can they may just scrape a narrow win here.
