Ondo State elections petition tribunal has received 17 petitions relating to the last National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections in the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). This was disclosed by the Chairman of Ondo State elections petition tribunal, Justice O. A. Ogar. The tribunal sitting began yesterday at the premises of the National Industrial Court, Akure after compiling the petitions of all the plaintiffs. Ogar expressed the readiness of the tribunal to give accelerated hearing to all the petitions before it. He stressed that the tribunal would not tolerate any act that could delay its hearing from any of the parties involved in the petitions before it. He assured that hearing would proceed to the pre-trial stage soon to ensure that all cases before it were attended to within the time stipulated by the law. The PDP is challenging all the five House of Assembly seats won by the APC in the state, while the APC is challenging three House of Representatives, one Senate and eight House of Assembly seats won by the PDP candidates in the elections. Counsel to the APC and the PDP, Dr. Tunji Abayomi and Mr. Remi Olatubora respectively expressed confidence in the tribunal. The duo expressed confidence that their clients would get favourable judgment from the tribunal, claiming they all have substantial evidence to buttress their petitions.
