Former Governor of Abia state Orji Uzor Kalu has counseled President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring June 12 as Nigeria’s Democracy Day.

Kalu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stated this on Monday whereas talking with journalists on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The former governor stated with the popularity of June 12, Buhari has put the acclaimed winner of the election, MKO Abiola, on the map of the world which previous presidents didn't do.

He urged the president to go additional by honouring the then National Electoral Commission (NEC) Chairman, Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, for conducting the election which was largely considered the freest and fairest election in Nigeria.
